NICAS Level 1

New Climber - NICAS Level 1

This course is for absolute beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of how to rock climb. NICAS stands for National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme, which is all about using artificial walls, enjoying the world of rock climbing and staying safe. You will learn about:

  • Correctly fitting a harness and helmet
  • How to tie yourself into the rope
  • How to belay your climbing partner
  • The correct safety procedures and call to use
  • Tips on how to climb well
  • How to safely lower off at the end of a climb

The course is for anyone aged 8 to adult.

Following this we would recommend joining our Climbing Club.
